Press Release – December 15,2004 FOOD PHOTO EXHIBITIONS IN EUROPE There are more and more food photos exhibitions around Europe, mostly linked to cookbooks. There are even art galleries specializing in it. In December 2003, the Gourmand Spanish Cookbook Awards took place in the 500 square meters Atalante Art Gallery in Madrid, with an exhibition by leading cookbook photographers: Thomas Ruhl, the photographer for most Star Chefs in Germany. - Ian Batchelor, The New Zealand photographer for Julie Biuso and other stars. Pelle Berglund, Award Winning Photographer for several cookbooks in Sweden Francesc Guillamet, known internationnally as the photographer of Ferran Adria. Denis Nidos, the leading black and white food and kitchen portraits photographer, from Perigueux, France.
In February 2004, Francesc Guillamet had his first exhibition in Barcelona, for the „Savour the Mediterranean Symposium. In the spring the Aprifel Art Gallery in Paris exhibited the stunning photos by Thomas Duval for the Spoon Cookbook of Alain Ducasse. It belongs to the French National Association for Fruits and Vegetables. The Spoon exhibition then went to Madrid in the permanent food art gallery on Zurbano Street, run by a Foundation linked to the Madrid Fusion event. In Sweden, there are food photo exhibits around the whole year at the House of Culinary Arts in Grythyttan, where Berglund and many others have exhibited. There will be an international food photo exhibition during the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in February 2005.
